The entire outside of my two story 3300 sq.ft home in Torrey Hills was painted by Brad Stoner. His crew of 3 people sometimes 4 finished the job in three and a half day. They were fantastic and better yet the house looks beautiful when they were done. They were courteous, good clean up and keep us informed. Pete was the best. I would recommend them to anyone and use them again if I had too. Great!!.
These are the facts, but not the whole story. I have left out how much of my time was wasted, how much work I lost because I had to babysit these guys. How much anguish I went through having to get up at midnight to let my roommate in after the guy screwed up my lock. I had to find a locksmith and watch him while he put my lock back together properly.
Brad Stoner Painting recently completed an exterior painting project at my home. From the moment that they came to do the estimate to the last moment that they were at the house, they were absolutely a pleasure to have around. The did an excellent job and the quality was superb. My wife remarked how happy they all seemed to be and were often singing or whistling while doing their work. They truly enjoyed what they were doing. Frankly, we were sorry when they finished because over the week of work, they had quickly become part of our family. I can highly recommend Brad Stoner Painting. They'll do the job well and happily!
My theory is that they figured a 65 year old woman, with no husband, wouldn't notice their poor workmanship and that they could walk off with their $3800 without putting in the time and effort to do a $3800 job.
Brad knew before I signed the contract that I was leaving the country for three weeks starting July 13th. When his guy walked iff the job, without telling me he was leaving, leaving my front gate lock unworkable and all the poor workmanship, I emailed Brad with a long itemized list of what still had to be done. He said to pay him 1/2 and let him know when I returned so they could finish. I told him he could work while I was gone, but he said no. That seemed odd to me that he wouldn't want to get it done, off his books and paid. Red flags started going up for me.
But at the end if that day, it wasn't done. The next day 3 guys showed up and I was sure they would knick it out. After all, it was the first time 3 workers came. Shortly after arriving though, two disappeared, leaving one person. 4 hours later one of the missing workers showed up, but then both guys left for the day about 1 P. M.
Brad contracted to paint my house July 5th-8th. But it wasn't done on the 8th or the 9th or the 10th or the 11th. Not really surprising since he had one person working on it the majority if the time. And one guy had to borrow tools from me and I had to get my ladder to help him lift my patio cover back up.
And all the days they were "working" , I couldn't open my front door to get air because they took the screens and lock off my front porch and left it like that. So 11 days and nights of running the AC.
That didn't get the job done. 2 guys showed up and...Whatever they did, it wasn't painting my house, because AGAIN, they left early without finishing.
Wish I could give 10 stars. I've hired many painting crews for my interior design business and no one holds a candle to Brad Stoner. Freddie was so kind and thoughtful of not just us, but the neighbor's. I will definitely use them again.
When I retuned I made contact. Brad, a supervisor and two workman came. I had put tape in a lot of places where work needed to be done, (poorly cut lines, the horrible mess they made of my metalwork, old paint showing through, messy paint smeared, smudged, dripped on the aluminum window casings, etc) Both Brad and the supervisor agreed that all the things needed ti be fixed and that they could do it that day.
I sent Brad an email, voicing my dissatisfaction and asking him to please send enough people to finish the job the next day. I also told him, if it wasn't done by 4 P.M. the next day (3rd day of finish work, 10th day of the 4 day paint job) I would not pay him. He responded "Ok"
Contract said they would sand, prime and paint the metalwork on my closed in front porch. But they skipped the sanding and priming steps. Instead they just globed on paint. It looked horrible and was peeling before they walked off the job. I pointed it out, but the guy left anyway. I pointed problems out on a daily basis, but they ignored them.
They're a great team who did what they said they would in the time frame and were happy to work around any inconveniences they encountered.
These are the facts, without exaggeration. BEWARE IF BRAD STONER PAINTING!
Twice I was offered money to "forget it". He offered me money in exchange for a signed document waiving my right to free speech. Maybe that's why all his reviews are good; he pays people to keep quiet.
Poor management, amateur painters, no pride in workmanship, lying, part time work to do a full time job and just plain not caring add up to an unhappy experience.
But I have integrity and could not live with myself if I did not warn people about what might happen if they hire Brad Stoner Painting.
I see Brad Stoner Painting has a five star rating. In order for me to believe those are all true reviews, I would have to believe I'm the only one in the universe unhappy with them. And that's hard to buy considering how unprofessional they were.
