You know it's bad when even the buyers using the agent hated him. When our home closed they asked me if we could exchange keys before 6 pm so that their realtor would not be able to come be part of it. They also said they wished they'd never hired him. Ouch!! From my perspective, the seller, I was floored by the mistakes and tone of the agent, John. He started our transaction leaving an incorrect mobile phone number. Then accepted our counter offer on accident and blamed the client. We gave him grace, because we new the intent. Then we offered to give the buyer a $3500 credit if he'd reduce his commission by a 1/2 percent. We later found out he never shared this with the buyer. Whose interest did he really have? Then we asked for proof of loan qualification. He kept us running in circles for two weeks. I finally had to call the lender myself and learned that the realtor could have fixed the whole issue with a simple communication update. At one point he rudely conversed with the escrow agent, who called him a "Drama Queen" and said she'd never been spoken to like that in 40 years and was insulting in emails to me. The buyers themselves said he was always too busy for them and couldn't find the time to show them homes. In fact, they came to see ours without him. Don't be fooled by these realtors, they don't have your best interest at heart (most realtors don't actually). In fact, John, the realtor we're speaking of here has a "day job" and realty is a second income. He never told the buyers this. They figured it out when I called his broker and they told me he had a normal 9-5. That is why he was always too busy. They also charged the buyers a $600 transaction fee! What?? You mean the $15k they got for making mistakes and not doing a whole lot wasn't good enough? Just beware. When the buyer and seller dislike the realtor it's probably a good sign to stay away.
