Great neighborhood market. They clearly have made an effort over the last couple of years to meet the needs of the neighborhood, adjusting as the demographics changed, and another market closed down. Their prices for some things can be a bit high,all in all I figure I save money by just buying what I need for dinner, verses buying a bunch of stuff for the week, some of which I throw away.
Husband and I were stationed out in San Diego for 2 years . We went to his market at least 3 times a week. They always had deals . Great selection of fresh veggies and a deli. Also the staff were amazing . Almost grew somewhat of a friendly relationship with the butchers as well as the cashiers it was very homey given being miles from home . The fresh made tacos aren't bad either , my husbands favorite was the burrito . They're not stingy with meat either ! They almost always give a surprise flavor salsa so it's very refreshing .
They have a modest, but helpful organic produce section, great traditional mexican items, and a smattering of healthy food items, random ingredients like tahini, alternative nut butters, organic dry and canned goods. The butchers are men of few words, but helpful. We love their prepared pollo asado. Their house made salsas are great, although I miss some of the ones they carried up until about a year ago. They now have a new deli counter. But, I think my new favorite thing there is the house made Tabouli (Lebanese salad). Best I've had. Please keep making it!
Love this store. Great service here every time I've been. Much better than Miller's down the street. Miller's does not appreciate it's customers. Very sad to see.
