One of the last of its kind , SB drive-in provides a throwback experience that San Diegans should take advantage of. For $9 per adult and $1 per kid ages 5-9, you gain access to what's usually a double feature. While theater hopping is technically not allowed, people seem to do it regularly, especially when the same movie is playing on the same screen twice and also when it's not too crowded as the herd significantly thins out anyway by the time the second movie rolls around. Audio is via radio which you play in your vehicle. If you don't bring your own goodies to munch on (after all, isn't that the best part of a drive in???) they do offer standard movie food plus lots of fun Mexican -inspired meal choices and frozen treats too in the central concessions building . Customer service is pretty decent too. Bathrooms are old and basic but they seem to do a decent job keeping it cleaned and stocked. Highly recommend this place for a more private movie experience in the comfort of your own car which is a plus for those with small kids, chatty kathies, etc. If your car is well-maintained, the car battery should not have a problem for the duration of the film, but if for some reason the battery needs a jump, they can help you (which we experienced once !). If you can make the trek all the way out here (seriously... Its only a couple exits from the border ), then be sure to give this place a chance.

I love this place! There isn’t much need for service but, the brief encounters I did have with the staff was pleasant and respectable. They also have a mini restaurant that serves some basic movie food that is actually pretty decent.

This place is awesome they always have friendly people and good movies playing. There are three different screens all with huge lots to either back up on and watch from the back seats laying down or pull forward and have a great view as well. Their bathrooms stay pretty clean for a drive in. I travel to this one over the one in santee which is closer to me because their prices and the over all experience!

NO DOGS ALLOWED AT THIS DRIVE IN. Not that it says no pets but no dogs in specific... So im guessing they obviously don't pay attention to detail or they have a thing against dogs. I won't attend again because hate but I always bring my dog to South Bay drive in and honestly won't go without taking her on a trip with me she's board just like me. Next time I'll bring my boa constrictor and make my damn point.

Last one left in San Diego. Please go and enjoy the experience because that's what it's about. It's not glamorous or ritzy but the closeness and authenticity of this place will provide you and loved ones a mindful of memories.
