The light house is beautiful and yes there is lots of history behind it. The lighthouse is open to the public but is a little tight.

This is a really great Park with beautiful views and some San Diego history. You can go down and check out the tide pools, which are best during low tide. It's also worth going to the top and seeing the views of downtown San Diego and Coronado. Check out the monument to Cabrillo. See the light house and small Museum there. There is a small War Museum and a couple other things to see. I go here frequently to show guests that are new to San Diego and it is well worth it.

This is a great spot to get a unique view of San Diego. It's also great fun to explore the lighthouse, visit the historical exhibits, or browse the gift shop. It's close to the airport, so I usually bring my out of town guests here as one of their last stops. After a few days exploring San Diego, visiting Cabrillo National Monument is a wonderful way to revisit all the other places they saw.

Being from San Diego and having lived here for 47 years, one of my favorite places to visit is at Cabrillo National Monument . It's a beautiful place with great views of Downtown San Diego, Coronado island, the coastlines, and on a clear day you can see the islands off the coast.

An awesome place to enjoy 180 degrees view of Pacific ocean surrounding this point. On a clear sky day, the sight is to behold. Also on the other side, you can view the San Diego downtown and airport runway. The lighthouse of Point Loma is spectacular as well. Plan to spend an afternoon there and try to catch a sunset as well. Beautiful! But be sure to bring in a lot of sweaters/jackets as it's always pretty windy here especially during colder months.

Why is this my one my favorite area of San Diego. Well the answer is basically not only views buts it a great place to sit back and relax and enjoy the sea without the hustle and bustle of the beach crowd.

Great place to hike and explore. Wear good walking shoes and bring a sweater for windy days. The Army radio bunker and the information inside are well worth visiting. Loved visiting the old lighthouse and the museum gives a wonderful history of the past.

There are several viewing and sitting areas throughout the park. They also do offer tours but I myself would rather enjoy the park by myself or with my love one.

My favorite thing to do though is just to walk around and enjoy the scenery. It's great just watching the sailboats and occasionally a tall ship will be sailing by. What others don't know is that there is a second lighthouse below as well as the tide pools. Before leaving the Park I would definitely take the drive down to see the second light house and the tide pools.
