The school is expensive but not as costly as others in its league and is definitely worth every penny. When I drop off and pick up my children at this school, I am always pleased with the wide variety of wonderful learning activities that I see. I think that what it says on the school’s website is absolutely true… “ Maria Montessori is the school you wish you’d attended.”

This school continuously demonstrates a commitment to children that is outstanding. For years, I have been an admirer of Maria Montessori School as an educator and now as a parent. Many of my own students have attended this school as well as my friends children. Every person I have referred to this school has been happy and inspired by the individualized education their child has received. Now my own children will attend Maria and we could not be happier! Some of the best Montessori teachers around educate here. If you are curious about Montessori this is an ideal place to start your education.

I am not an educator, so I don't claim to be an expert, but I am an expert when it comes to my children. What I can tell you is that they are truly growing up with MMS! Both of our children are finishing up their fourth year at MMS. My son started in Kindergarten and is almost done with third grade. My daughter started in a preschool classroom when she was barely three and will be a second grader in just a couple of weeks!

I think this is a great school with really great teachers. I am happy with my daughter going to this school!

Once my boys started attending this school when they were three years old, the school went on to exceed my expectations. Many of the teachers at Maria Montessori have been there for many years, some even for decades. You could not ask for a more caring, dedicated and professional group of people to help educate your children. One of my boys now has reading and math skills far past his grade level and the other is making amazing progress as well. In addition to the activities of a quintessential Montessori classroom, they are also exposed to many other subjects including science, foreign languages, art, geography, etc. Diversity is celebrated at this school, and the multicultural faculty and student body have served to further enhance their learning experiences about other countries and cultures. They have made many wonderful friends and love coming to school every day.

The school went to great lengths to teach and honor a diversity of cultures and beliefs in ways that exceeded any charter, public or private school our kids later attended.

I am so grateful to MMS for providing such a rich curriculum for both of my children. If you are wondering why I'm not giving a five star review, I do think it is important to be completely honest (that's what I'd want if I were in your shoes), so I will tell you that the school does have some drawbacks which are more apparent to me as the parent than they are for my kids (who both tell me they want to attend here through 8th grade!). Those drawbacks mostly relate to the fact that a small school with reasonable tuition has to make compromises and can't do everything. Certainly I would love to have a big grass field and organized sports for my son or more art and music options for my daughter. The time allotted to foreign language is not enough to gain fluency. That being said, there are certainly other schools that offer stronger programs in those areas, but our continued attendance at MMS speaks for itself. I wouldn't trade what my kids DO get out of this school for any of the items on my wishlist. Thank you MMS!

I chose MMS for my son because they don't just focus on academic learning but rather help to develop the whole child. Prior to entering Kindergarten, my son loved being read to but wasn't interested in learning to read or write himself. During his first year, he learned to read and write and developed a real interest in and love for learning. In second grade, he found himself in a different classroom than many of his school friends, but that didn't stop him. He made new friends, stepped up to be a leader (he was an older child in that mixed grade Montessori classroom), and even performed a dance routine with his class in the school's Spring Showcase.

All three of our kids (now ages 22, 19 and 16) attended this school and received loving, personalized and inspiring education that played a key role in their academic and socioemotional thriving. Simply put, MME helped nurture each child's individual love of learning in ways that gave them both foundational knowledge and a passion to grow.

MME provided a superior educational experience and we left only because the program stopped after grade six.

I chose MMS for my daughter because of the warmth I personally experienced and witnessed during my tour, and we've stayed at MMS because we continue to feel that warmth and caring. During her first year at the school, may daughter gave her teacher a hug every morning upon arriving at school and one at the end of the day before she left. Fast forward through four years and that toddler has become a confident, hard working, polite, helpful young lady. In this last year she has worked as a chef for the pancake breakfast, met the illustrator of the Fancy Nancy books, presented her own creative writing to a large group of parents, and learned the value of community.

I cannot say enough good things about this school. I have twin boys who are now in their third year at Maria Montessori School, and I feel they are receiving a first-rate education in a wonderful, loving school environment. Coming from a family of professors, school administrators and teachers back East, I wanted my boys to get the best education possible here in San Diego. After touring ten preschools including three other Montessori schools, I felt that this one was the best. I was immediately impressed by the beautiful, well-kept grounds and the bright, sunny, well-organized classrooms each with its own wealth of authentic Montessori materials.
