You can go inside some of the old war planes, but there were always line ups.

Awesome guides, awesome place to visit! We spent nearly 4 hours exploring and learning about the history of the Midway, and recommend planning enough time to enjoy it. You should be physically capable of climbing lots of stairs to get around. Fun for families, though if we’d had kids with us don’t know if their attention spans would have allowed for 4 hours but we (2 adults) sure enjoyed it!

An excellent museum displaying much of what life aboard a flat top is like. Many types of aircraft that were launched from her deck are also displayed and able to be examined closely. This is both a magnificent ship that has served in the Vietnam War and the Gulf War, and a piece of history that all should experience and show their respect. Many of the tour guides are former crewman who sailed and lived aboard her. This was such a bonus! Learning the history of this fighting ship from someone who was there made this experience so much more enjoyable. Discounts for veterans, active duty service members, and free for our new brothers and sisters from recruit training. Bravo Zulu, 41

I'm not a history buff at all in this was not on my list of things to do but I loved it! We spent 4 hours there and could have spent more. Lots to see and very interesting. Many of the docents are retired Navy and we're very knowledgeable.

Great museum. We especially love the Rosie the Riveter docent. OK, she's my daughter, so I might be biased. Seriously, it's a great museum. Evidence of the museum's quality can be found in the countless volunteer hours by Midway veterans. This isn't a Disney experience. This is an important piece of military history, treated with great respect by those who work there. Yet it's a hands-on experience.

The gift shop had some unique, navy themed items. There’s also a cafe and a pretzel stand.

Time well spent. Must visit while in San Diego. Kids (6 and 8) had more fun here than at the zoo. They have a kids program where they search for answers and get awarded wings at the end.
