This place needs to be rebuilt completely. To be clear, this is not a review about any of the individual stores, rather the mall as a whole. For being in the middle of downtown SD, this mall offers nothing that says San Diego. It's just a hodgepodge of generic stores that can be found anywhere and are hard to navigate between. There are confusing levels in between levels and the whole thing just feels cheaply done. Downtown SD deserves better than this.
I loved this place! It has a ton of character and charm and is so unique. Every time you turn around they're is something new to discover. Didn't do any shopping here due to time constraints but I had a blast walking around the entire area. Pictures don't do it justice you just have to experience it for yourself. Would love to come back when I have more time.
This place is a luxury retail outlet situated in Downtown San Diego. I originally visited this place in 2010 while on my honeymoon and now have returned as a resident to see some struggle and decline occurring. This mall provides an outdoor shopping experience coupled with a comedy club and movie theater to create a well rounder multipurpose shopping experience. However, as shopping malls go by the wayside to make way for Amazon and others to rule the American shopping experience, developers and property managers of malls like this must be aware that parking and transportation costs are a big contingency when trying to attract and retain faithful patrons in a down economy with a plethora of competition. Westfield has the potential to maintain its status a luxury destination shopping center but ditch the parking fees and make the old Nordstroms an indoor skydive center or something similar in order to attract teens and young adults back to the area. I do love the fact that this place fosters the performing arts by hosting a yearly film festival...I believe more events like this will help revitalize and restore this downtown gem.
I was visiting downtown San Diego and needed to take my daughter to the Vans store. On the streets of downtown SD there was a vibrancy and lots of foot traffic. Once we stopped at this shopping center, it felt like an abandoned ghost town. No vibrancy, I kept looking behind to make sure I wasn't going to get mugged. Tons of vacant store fronts and folks loitering. I'd rather shop online.
Really gone downhill over the last 5 years. I used to be fun to go to the mall now it feels like you're walking into a big money suck. A lot of the small fun shops have closed. And they charge for parking if you stay more than an hour.
