You can keep your pastries, especially when you drive away paying customers.
Let me just say, this review is not about atmosphere or decor, but about the service. Visiting from out of town, my friends and I went into this place just wanting to buy a pastry. It was 9:50 and the worker behind the counter informed us that it was 10 minutes till close. I said that it was fine, and I just wanted to buy a pastry to go. She said okay but she had to ring out the customers she had just helped.
We stopped by for some gelato on a Sunday afternoon. The place was moderately full but no line for the desserts. They allow two samples and have a respectable variety of flavors. I got the strawberry cream and it was delicious.
I wait for her to return, she comes back and shuts the lights off in the counters and tells me along with other people now waiting that she is sorry, but they are closed.
great pastas and pizza, and a big variety of Gelatto and Italian pastries. But my favorite menu item are the sub-sandwich on fresh italian rolls. Try the "Special". Whatever you try at Solunto you will be delighted
I ask for an explanation, and she said that it's now past ten and they are closed.
I get she has a life, and that store hours are till ten. But where I'm from, of your customers make it through the door during business hours, you serve them and decline any more attempts for service from that point.
The plates were good but the pizza was pretty poor for an Italian place. They could do better. The complimentary salsa and bread was awesome.
Understandable.
Very poor customer service, and I will never go there, attempt to go there, and suggest you don't either. I was absolutely shocked by it, and I'm not one to usually speak my mind even when I'm upset, but this is the very mindset that doesn't make me miss San Diego, and one of the main reasons I'm glad I don't live here anymore.
An Italian restaurant and bakery. The spaghetti and meatballs was good. I loves the sauce and pasta; meatballs could use a little more flavor. My wife also had a pasta with sausage & loved it. The deserts we're great too!! There's a big showcase of the deserts, and plenty to choose from.
