Alright, so like anyone I googled my doctor out of curiosity. What I found in regards to his fallout with the NFL seems to be an unfortunate series of events that left both sides to losing: the Chargers by having a veteran physician leave, and Chao leaving without proper recognition from an organization he had served for over a decade. That being said, I decided that this guy, despite any legal issues he may have, is like everyone else--not perfect. However, he is still a licensed physician and surgeon. I needed an operation for my labrum and threw my weight behind him. Now I'm three weeks out and just waiting for physical therapy to start. He did his job and now I have to do mine. That's how these operators go. Remember, it takes effort on both sides for surgeries to be effective.
This one star has nothing to do with Dr. Chao's capability as a Medical Professional. I'm sure sure he's a good Doctor. Unfortunately, I was turned off by his administrative staff. I was told after my initial x-ray and exam that I would be contacted by the local MRI place and my insurance information would be forwarded. Therefore, I never asked any information regarding the MRI facility. Two weeks go by and nothing. I send an e-mail inquiring about the status of the MRI after two voice mails. I get an e-mail asking if i had reached out to the MRI place? What? I take a deep breadth ask for the details. A day later I get a name and number but the number I get is for a CVS/Target location. At this point I'm done. Knee still hurts but looking for another Doctor's office. I guess this is what happens when you just a co-pay to them.
I too like Dr. David Choa as a doctor. My husband and I both had had previously shoulder surgeries that were very successful. I needed to see him for my hip and was told that they took Blue Cross PPO. The same insurance that we had with the previously two other surgeries. I made my appointment and went two other times for follow up appointments after Mri's & cat scans. At each of the three appointments they took my co-pay of $45. They then sent me a statement saying that I was not covered and I owned $1790 for three appointments'. This is not how you treat patients especially ones that you have a history with. The office staff should have let me know prior to my first appointment that they do not take my insurance. Great Doctor but beware of information that you get from his staff.
If there was a lower rating I would give it. Lets summarize. I made an appt. and with a five minute consultation that I was charged an exurbanite amount of money for I was told that I needed MRI's. Well this was late November and was ensured that I would be undergoing surgery for a wrist surgery prior to the first of the year so I could avoid additional co-pay issues. I was informed that the MRI would be ordered STAT. Apparently their office thinks 6 business days is STAT. That being said the Imaging center was great however the MRI was denied by my insurance. That's ok and I get it. The Imaging center tried for 4 days to get a response from DR Chaos to have a Dr on Dr consult with the insurance company with no results. I finally received a return call from their front office and was informed that I may have to have a second 5 minute multi hundred dollar consult to acquire more information. Lets just say its been another 4 days with no results and now its Dec the 28th not to mention their ridiculous front office staff who doesn't give a rats you know what about their Pts.. I will be going to court on the first apt charge and will not return to this joke of an office in my lifetime. Please Please Please do yourself the favor and avoid this office!!!! This place is a joke! Thanks for costing me thousands of dollars!!!!
I broke my leg and wrist and Dr David Chao took excellent care of my injuries, they got me into surgery within a week and I have had an exceptionally rapid and painless recovery. I am very impressed with Dr Chao. My experience has been very positive and I recommend Dr. Chao to anyone needing orthopedic surgery.
