Then I have to be contacted by the delivery company for 4 days no body called me till I keep calling them to get my table.
Terrible service. We ordered a sofa that was delivered in the wrong color. After several mails, visits to the store, finally they delivered the right sofa after 6 months of the order
very bad customer service all the staff should send home if you have a true manager.
West Elm has really nice furniture, but there is something seriously wrong with the management and employees at this location. My first time at this location, I wanted to buy a coffee table and 2 end tables. There were signs all over the store saying the end tables and coffee tables were 20% off. When I told an employee (a manager, it turns out) that I wanted the end tables, he took the sign off of them, and said they weren't really 20% off... they had just forgotten to take down the sign. The problem, is, that wasn't the only, or even the biggest, sign with the sale... they were ALL over the store. The manager said the tables were on sale over the weekend (this was a Tuesday) but they weren't on sale anymore, but he would give me the sale price. Unfortunately... they were out of stock, would have to order the tables, and because they were on back order, it could take 6 weeks for the tables to ship... AND I'd have to pay full price, and wait for the 20% refund once I received the tables. He seemed genuinely irritated when I said I wanted the tables and agreed to his super-complex plan. This was NOT an enjoyable experience.
The next bad experience I had here was when I went with my husband (who is native american... AKA brown-skinned). We were looking around, and the store managers (2 of them) who were on the floor made a point of asking every customer who came in the store whether they needed any help. These store managers appeared to intentionally avoid us in favor of older, whiter customers. It wasn't until we were on our way out the door, when they were both standing by the entrance, that they decided to say "Goodbye, have a nice day!". How sweet of them both to watch us leave and thank us for leaving, while following us around the store while we were there, and saying nothing.
I’ve visited this store four times since I moved to San Diego last year. Some of the other reviewers’ remarks about poor customer service and lack of acknowledgement have been true in my experiences. I ended up purchasing similar styled furniture from another store down the road, no biggie it’s all mass-produced right? My experience there was much better.
West Elm generally has nice stuff. The store was not a great experience. It was difficult to get any employees to acknowledge I was alive and felt like a jackass trying to get help from the various employees milling about not looking very busy or interested in helping me. So I went home and decided to order online. I needed some information about the couch I was ordering and saw in the store so I called to ask. At that point, I spoke with Susie who was very nice and helpful. She suggested I come into the store and she would help me out with the numerous furniture items I wanted to purchase. I did. She was friendly after I explained who I was. Ordered a number of items through her. All downhill from there. The dining table I bought was out of stock shortly after I placed my order. I had already assembled the coffee table I had purchased to match with it. Despite the coffee table's wobbly legs I didn't want the hassle of returning. Items delivery dates constantly changed. Next week to next month then "probably November." I had to cancel a few items after being too frustrated when delivery dates kept getting pushed, and when for one item I was told no new expected delivery date was available, it was the last straw. I also had to wait on hold for over an hour to cancel my order. On a Monday afternoon. I will never give West Elm another dime. They give you the run around when it comes to actually receiving items you order. If I had not called to schedule my delivery who knows how long it would have taken, despite being told at the store I would receive a call with my delivery date as soon as each item was available. I am happy with my sofa and Roar & Rabbit bedroom furniture but the business practices suck and I would much rather shop elsewhere. Don't bother buying anything from them if you don't want to spend your time waiting, getting jerked around and treated like a jackass as you wait to actually receive your order.
The worst place to buy furniture, I bought a Dinning table by $1700 from them, the lady in cashier told me the delivery will cost you $295, I found that's too much decided to pick up from the store by my self, next day I went there I found the cost if you buy over $999 is only $95!!!
In short, the management staff at this location come across as arrogant, rude, unhelpful, unapologetic and unwilling to recognize that they need to improve how they treat people.... especially non-white people.
