Free parking downstairs
If you let your passport expire past the time you're able to renew by mail, and you end up doing the walk-in thing, expect to wait for about 3 hours to get it done. The line will stretch from the counter to Otay. Don't do it. On the positive side, there is a parking garage, the employees are pretty nice and they're efficient as they can, they have photo services if you need it, and there is an ATM on site to pay with cash. Otherwise, bring like 3 blank checks with your application. If you can, renew by mail. Renew by mail. RENEW. BY. MAIL.
I applied for a passport on a Thursday morning and I was in and out of there in less than an hour. The building is well kept and clean and the workers are courteous and knowledgeable. Only issues I saw was that you must pay with cash or check, and there was only one line. There were multiple passport representatives but only one person to check you in. Finally, there is free parking available. The parking garage is located on the south side of the building on W Ash Street.
Only took an hour :) quick service if you have everything ready before they see you.

I came here to get my passport, what alot of people don't know is that there is FREE parking under the building but you just have to find the entrance...
