I gave her the address of that place that I found online, and she told me that it wasn't the right address (because apparently it was Alvarado Hospital instead of AMC. But it was two buildings down the road from AMC). I didn't understand why the exact address mattered so much since both the police and I know the pick up spot, but I couldn't find it online so I told her that the address I found was just two buildings down the street from the pick up spot.

I had a night shift to go to, and I had to go through the pitch dark road to make it to the parking lot of the pick up spot. That road that my apartment is on is particularly dark, barely anyone walks by, and has a lot of bushes and trees. It was so dark with no one around except a man in a hoodie walking around in the parking lot. I called to give her the address of my location, and I was told that it still wasn't the right address. I told her to please come pick me up because I was waiting alone.
After that I had to wait another 10 minutes, super anxious just being in a really dark parking lot by myself. When the officer came, I complained about the situation and how ridiculous it was that the exact building number mattered when they know where the pick up spot is (they SHOULD know if they are capable of doing safety escorts). All that the officer said was that "there is only so many of us working," "there's many buildings around here" and "there's nothing we can do." I ended up going on the Uber that my boyfriend had brought for me.
I am astonished at how ruthless the parking enforcement is! I had a pretty legitimate emergency in which the SDSU Police is completely unwilling to negotiate on my (nearly $200) parking ticket. Not only did I explain the emergency to the police as they wrote the ticket, but I tried to work with Janie Guerrero on negotiating some reasonable alleviation from the unwarranted fees due to the situation. This parking department was unwarranted in writing the ticket in the first place, but furthermore: once I returned from my trip, my ticket had doubled and the department was absolutely stone-cold on leaving all the fees in place. Despicable ethical practices - but wow, what a great business model for the Police Department!

This was such a bad experience because you don't know what could happen at a pitch black parking lot next to a lot of bushes, with no one around, at midnight. What would they have said if something had happened to me meanwhile? That they were simply waiting for me to give the exact building number? I called the safety escort so I would safety get to work, but I was only exposed to danger by doing that. I don’t want to exaggerate, but you really never know what could happen to anyone.
Thanks.
