This is a great community resource. The staff is local and knowledgeable. Yes, the prices may be more than Home Depot and they may not always have what you are looking for but I ALWAYS check here first.
This is partly what is so nice about living in OB. This is like a small town hardware store where everyone that works there is happy and eager to help. The man checking me out today actually asked me what my plans were for the day. That made me feel really good. It's so easy for us to become invisible and it's really nice to be treated kindly. They were all really sweet to my dog too.
This is always my first stop when I need hardware.
There are stores in the neighborhood that exploit people's desire to shop local and support small businesses by having crazy high prices. Mom and pop does not give license to price gouge.
The people at O.B. Hardware really make you feel like a valuable part of the community. It is nice to support a local business that supports local residents and doesn't charge us like we are shopping at the airport.

O.B. Hardware is the opposite. The prices are reasonable. The staff is friendly just for the sake of being friendly. If they don't have it they will tell you where you can find it (unlike the discount store lady that turns and walks away from you).
THIS is the type of small business that needs to preserved.
