The vehicle that was reserved for me was full of Styrofoam debris so I went to the Gold Isle counter and requested a clean vehicle. On the second night when my wife and I went to the car after attending a concert the key fob was dead. There was a physical key in the fob, which I used to open the car door but I still could not start the car. I called the 800 help line and sat on hold for over 30 minutes - in a darkened parking lot in a sketchy part of town - trying to get assistance. During that time I figured out that if I held the fob right up to the Start button the vehicle would start, so that's how we got back to the hotel. The next day I returned the car. To add insult to injury, when I got the emailed bill I was charged $44 for fuel and the receipt said I'd driven the car for over 355 miles! We used less than half a tank of gas! I'm usually pretty easy-going about minor issues, but this was a combination of errors that I feel was inexcusable. Particularly the lack of telephone agents at 11:30pm on a Saturday night. HERTZ - get it together!
Because I am a gold member I get to bypass the counter and just go straight to big screen and look for my name and the lot number for my car, I to the lot and the was there but it was an SUV I thought I got an upgrade but just to confirm i went back to the big screen and checked again and went to customer service and it was confirmed that the lot number was accurate, so i proceeded but when I got to the gate i was told that it was not my car, therefore i had to go back they had to find me another vehicle, I was okay with that but it was such an inconvenience. And the worst was i was being asked if i was sure that i went to the right lot #.
Ease of rental, competitive pricing. Could have been slightly cleaner around the drivers seat but a good car overall. Noisy tires as well.
Pickup and drop off in Boston were easy. My car was upgraded without my even knowing about it. All in all, an excellent rental experience!
I am pleased with my Hertz #1 club feature that allows me to pick up my car without additional waiting in lines and more paperwork. The car was clean and in excellent condition. The return process was just as efficient. It was a pleasure to rent from Hertz.
